About the Department
The Department of Physics was established in 1990 and is affiliated with Anna University. Since its inception, the department has been committed to providing quality education in Physics and fostering scientific knowledge among students.
The department plays a vital role in teaching Physics to first-year engineering undergraduate students, helping them build a strong foundation in basic sciences essential for their academic and professional growth.
The department is supported by highly qualified, experienced, and dedicated faculty members who employ effective teaching methodologies to enhance student learning. Our faculty members have more than 15 years of teaching and research experience. Three of our faculty members have completed Ph.D.
Faculty members regularly participate in Faculty Development Programmes (FDPs), workshops, seminars, and training programmes to update their knowledge and teaching skills.
The department is equipped with well-equipped laboratory facilities that enable students to gain practical knowledge and hands-on experience in various areas of Physics.
In addition to teaching, the department is actively engaged in research in emerging and interdisciplinary fields such as Materials Science, Nanomaterials, Nano Drug Delivery, Biophysics, Crystallography, Spectroscopy, and Nuclear Theory.
The faculty members have published more than 250 research papers in reputed national and international journals. The department has also produced more than 15 doctoral graduates and continues to contribute through ongoing research and academic excellence.
